Holbox, Q.R. — Governor Mara Lezama confirmed the completion of the expansion of the Holbox Health Centre. The newly expanded centre is operational 24 hours a day, providing service to islander in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas.
Governor Lezama recalled that during previous visits, residents of Holbox had pointed out the existence of a space adjacent to the Health Center that could be used to expand medical care.
“We always come unexpectedly and listen to the people. That’s what governing with humanism is all about,” she stated.
She expressed his gratitude for the support of the head of IMSS-Bienestar, Alejandro Svarch, and the direct support of President Claudia Sheinbaum to ensure that health is a right and not a privilege.
During the tour, Lezama noted that the expansion is now finished and includes three care beds, a full bathroom, an additional consultation room, a triage area, which will allow for a better response to emergencies and medical needs on the island.
“This is a team that provides quality and compassionate care to the people of Holbox,” said Mara Lezama, reiterating that the expansion of the Health Center is a concrete action to improve medical care and the quality of life on the island.
Accompanied by Nivardo Mena Villanueva, the mayor of Lázaro Cárdenas, Lezama pointed out that the health centre now operates with four doctors, distributed in morning, afternoon, night shifts and weekends, guaranteeing continuous care, since “nobody gets sick at specific times.”
The governor also emphasized that, through the Health Route program and the medication distribution system, they are working to ensure that health is a right, not a privilege, a directive supported by President Sheinbaum.
