Governor reports ongoing investment interest in Cancun, Riviera Maya

Cancun, Q.R. — Governor Carlos Joaquín González says that the confidence and interest of national and international businessmen investing in the Mexican Caribbean continues.

He said that even during the pandemic, they did not stop receiving investment opportunities, noting the opening of new hotels. Joaquin says that these hotels demonstrate the interest of businessmen in Quintana Roo, using the newly opened Hilton Garden Inn at the Cancun airport as a latest example.

“The creation of employment through investments like this will always be important, since it helps in the social and economic development of the state,” he said adding that “I have no doubt that this new hotel will be a success for the Hilton chain.”

In a quick count of how many hotels have opened during health contingency, he recalled Conrad, Waldorf Astoria, Nickelodeon and Planet Hollywood, which is about to open in Isla Mujeres. Also included on the list is the new Hilton airport hotel.

“We are talking about four to five thousand new hotel rooms added during the pandemic,” he said. While he did not have investment figures on hand, he did point them out as being very important for the state.
