Governor reports 671 schools open and 24 cases of covid

Cancun, Q.R. — At the start of the third week of face-to-face classes, there are 24 covid-19 infections out of the 671 schools that have resumed classes, reported the state governor, Carlos Joaquín.

He says with the change in state epidemiological light to yellow, there will be some adjustments in terms of hours and capacity allowed for the operation of the schools.

“There will be some changes in terms of programs (…) we are adjusting it with all the cabinet staff to be able to have and maintain our prevention programs and not lower our guard, not relax, because every time we head towards green, we suddenly go back up (in infections),” he explained.

To date, he says there are 300 public and 371 private schools that have resumed classes, noting that of the 24 infections, a majority of them are teaching personnel and administrative personnel, but that some of those infected are students.
