Riviera Maya, Q.R. — During a recent business meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) Marcelo Ebrard and Governor Carlos Joaquín announced the state’s first tourism promotion tour for the U.S.
During the Monday meeting, Governor Carlos Joaquín said that Quintana Roo is experiencing a time of economic and developmental growth that will detonate employment during the next 20, 22 and 24 months.
Joaquín highlighted that the state reported an economic growth of 16.7 percent in the last semester of 2021, obtaining first place nationally in this area. He also recalled the 95,000 recovered jobs of the 100,000 that were lost due to the covid-19 pandemic.
“We continue to have significant national and foreign investment. Each day, we average between 43,000 and 45,000 international tourists arriving in the state. They are very relevant numbers which have allowed us to continue growing and recovering the economy,” he explained.
The governor added that Quintana Roo has three cities that have been growing at double digits for several years. Cancun for more than 35 years, Playa del Carmen for the past 20 years and Tulum for the past five. He pointed out that Bacalar in the south, is also showing significant growth.
Marcelo Ebrard said that due to the success of Quintana Roo, various businessmen will participate in the October promotion tours set for Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Houston among other U.S. cities.
