Riviera Maya, Q. R. — Nearly 550,000 square meters has been expropriated by the federal government for Maya Train use. The latest plots of land to fall victim relate to section 6 in the municipalities of Tulum, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, OPB and Bacalar.
Earlier this week, another decree was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF) and signed by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador expropriating 549,055 square meters of land.
The land, which totals 54 hectares of 23 private properties, will be used for the execution of section 6 of the Maya Train. The 23 private properties are located in the municipalities of Tulum, Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Othón P. Blanco and Bacalar.
The land is being expropriated under several Articles of the Constitution which establishes that “…expropriations may only be made for reasons of public utility and through compensation” and that “… railways are priority areas for national development…”
