Gilberto Gómez leads preliminary vote results for Puerto Aventuras mayor

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Gilberto Gómez has been voted as the first mayor of Puerto Aventuras. On Sunday, residents voted for the town’s first ever mayor. Two candidates have been competing for the past month to fill the position.

Preliminary results of Sunday’s vote

The names of both Gilberto Gómez Martínez and Feliciano Teh Cen were on the ballots for the Sunday vote. At the end of the day, preliminary vote results counted 1,916 votes in favor of Gilberto Gómez and 952 for his opponent Félix Teh Cen.

A total of 2,937 votes were cast with some being annulled for being unregistered voters.

Voting took place in three polling stations in schools located in Villa Miramar, José Antonio Tzuc Esparza and Miguel Ortega Navarrete. Polls opened at 8:00 a.m. and closed at 6:00 p.m.

The name of the first-ever mayor for Puerto Aventuras will be officially announced for April 1, relieving current de facto mayor, Tomás Flores Benítez, relieved of the duty.
