Get away drivers in fatal Cancun bar shooting picked up by police

Cancun, Q.R. — Two people who are alleged to have played a role in a deadly Cancun bar shooting are in custody. In separate incidents, investigative police arrested two men for their alleged involvement in the aggravated homicide of two people.

Ángel Aarón “N” and Juan Ramón “N” were part of three being investigated by police for the bar shooting that left two dead on Huayacán Avenue March 13. They are believed to have been the designated get away drivers.

According to police, Ángel Aarón “N” allegedly drove the vehicle used to pick up three hitmen on 135th Avenue and then take them to a pharmacy next to the bar. Inside the bar was the owner, their target.

The owner was with three others performing renovations on the soon-to-open establishment when the armed men stormed the building killing him and wounding three others, one of whom later died in hospital.

“At that location, the gunmen got out of the vehicle and opened fire on the victim, who died. Meanwhile, Ángel Aarón was waiting for them in the vehicle a few meters ahead, fleeing along the extension of La Luna Avenue toward Cancún Avenue,” police reported in a statement.

“Juan Ramón “N,” is also possibly linked to the businessman’s murder. Similarly, the Investigative Police seized two taxis which were allegedly used to transport the hitmen who killed two people,” they said.

Following the legal proceedings, Ángel Aarón “N” and Juan Ramón “N” were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and their legal status will be determined within the constitutionally established timeframe.

Police have not clarified if both arrested men are city taxi drivers.
