Four rescued from burning Chetumal home after car begins to smoke

Chetumal, Q.R. — Four people were rescued from a burning home in Chetumal Wednesday by city firemen and police. The fire happened early Wednesday morning in the Arboledas neighborhood.

Chetumal firemen were sent to the burning home around 3:20 a.m., arriving to find a large group of residents outside watching the blaze. Due to its intensity, flames began shooting out of the exploded front windows and doors of the home.

The family also lost their car, which was parked in a gated front area of the home. The house was a complete write off. Chetumal authorities are still working on an official cause, however, reports say the fire started in the car and quickly spread to the home.
