Chetumal, Q.R. — Police in Chetumal have arrested four men as suspects in the attempted execution of two others. In a news briefing, the State Secretary of Public Security reported their arrests after a chase.
The four were taken into custody after the driver of their vehicle slammed into a pole during a police chase Sunday. They were arrested after the report of gunshots fired along San Salvador Avenue in Chetumal was made to emergency services.
The group of four, who were traveling in a car, alledgly took aim at two others traveling in another vehicle before fleeing. Police were successful in locating their vehicle. Taken into custody were Rafael “N”, Luis “N”, José “N” and Kevin “N”.
On social media, the Secretary of Public Security, Lucio Hernández, reported that “At dawn on November 14, a call was received to 911 where they reported that on San Salvador Avenue in the Framboyanes de Chetumal neighborhood, they had registered a report of disturbances between groups of young people of which a woman and a man were injured by gunshot wounds.”
The agency also noted the two injured people had been arrested in August of 2020 on drug-related charges.
