Fonatur releases renders of Playa del Carmen, Tulum Maya Train Stations

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — The National Fund for the Promotion of Tourism (Fonatur) has announced an official location for the upcoming Maya Train station in Playa del Carmen. Fonatur says that the train will travel over a viaduct at the intersection of the Tulum-Cancun highway and Avenida 38 norte.

The agency said the site was chosen so that travelers, in the heart of Riviera Maya, will be able to easily connect with the Cozumel cruise port.

The location of the station “will allow meeting the demand of the tourist area located to the east of the station, the commercial area located to the west and the housing area that extends from north to south of the town,” stated the federal agency.

Along with a location, renders of the upcoming Maya Train Station for Playa del Carmen have also been released.

“In the station you will see marine forms. It will be a building in the form of a wave. The architecture is a set of frames that, due to their location, produce these undulating forms where it will house the roads, offices, ramps, lockers and entrances.

“Being close to the highway, the station is raised at a high level in order not to interfere with the traffic flow below. At the field level, there is the possibility of a bus and taxi station as well as commercial premises to mobilize tourists,” the agency reported.

Renders for the upcoming Maya Train Station in Tulum have also been released. Fonatur has not yet specified a location for the train station in Tulum.
