Three arrested after attacking Cancun police

Cancun, Q.R. — CORRECTION: Three people have been arrested for attacking Cancun police with stones while guarding property believed related to the January 20th bullet attack where seven people were killed.

The attack was recorded at 8:30 p.m. in Villas del Sol when five individuals began throwing stones at police. Two of the on duty policemen were hit and left with non-life threatening injuries. Three of the five subjects were arrested shortly after, but not before one of them stole a police radio that has yet to be recovered.

Police say arrested were 18-year-old Jenrr A.R. from Chiapas, 25-year-old Luis C.G. from Chetumal and 24-year-old Auner V.J. also from Chiapas.

On a social media account, Capalla confirmed the attack saying, “The two injured elements in Supermanzana 527 Fracc Andalucía are in good health, one injured in one finger and the other in an arm. Wounds do not endanger life. We continue in search for those responsible.”

CORRECTION: Several hours after his post, Capella has identified the two remaining suspects as Alberto N and Christopher N. If they are seen, he encourages the public to report them to emergency 911 or 089.

We had originally reported that these two had been arrested.

Police were guarding a home on Avenida Pavo Real when the five began to attack them. Three of the men were arrested shortly after one street away. Police were guarding property believed used in the January shooting that left seven dead.
