Mahauhal, Q.R. — A fisherman who set out for lagoon fishing north of Mahahual found more than fish upon his arrival.
When casting his net into lagoon waters, the fisherman made the grisly discovery of a body. Police were sent to the scene at El Placer lagoon in Costa Maya where they confirmed the body of a man. Forensic personnel also arrived and were able to determine the man, whom they estimate was around 45 years of age, died from bullet wounds.
The body was removed from the lagoon and transported to their facilities. The identify of the man has not been revealed.
