First stone laid for $300 million in new Cancun hotels

Cancun, Q. R. — The first stone for two new Cancun hotels has been laid. The company will spend more than $300 million USD in construction. On Tuesday, Governor Mara Lezama announced the start of construction for Live Aqua Riviera Cancun and Grand Fiesta Americana Riviera Cancun All Inclusive Resort & Spa.

Lezama says the construction of the hotels, both of Grupo Posadas, represents the confidence of investors in Quintana Roo and in a government that is a facilitator to deploy the economic potential of the state.

During her laying of the first stone, she recognized the professionalism of the workers that make it possible to maintain Quintana Roo as a tourism leader.

José Carlos Azcarraga, President of Grupo Posadas, said that these emblematic complexes will generate 6,000 new jobs of which 2,000 are direct. He said that with more than 1,000 rooms, the two hotels are a key project for Grupo Posadas which will have a 25 percent growth in its hotel offer with 13 hotels in the seven brands that operate in Quintana Roo.

Both hotels are scheduled to open between the end of 2026 and mid-2027.
