Chetumal, Q.R. — The state of Quintana Roo will have a new family court aimed at the welfare of children. The court will begin operating November 18 in the state’s capital city of Chetumal and specialize in adoptions.
Starting November 18, the new Specialized Family Court of First Instance for Adoption in Chetumal will begin operating. It will be the first of its kind as a mixed jurisdictional body with the objective of guaranteeing the best interests of children in Quintana Roo.
The Official State Gazette approved agreement 13/2024 after local authorities raised the need to have a specialized body for adoptions. The office of the new specialized family court will be located on Framboyanes Avenue in the city of Chetumal.
Representation in the Judicial District of Cancun will also be available at an office on 84th Street.
“The main objective of the creation of this court is to ensure that the adoption process for girls, boys and adolescents is carried out in a prompt and expeditious manner, protecting their best interests at all times,” the document states.
