Firemen talk drunk resident down from top of Puerto Aventuras structure

Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Firemen responded to the report of a drunk man on top of a Puerto Aventuras structure Saturday. The man was found stuck on top of the roof that covers a public area in the central esplanade of the Puerto Maya subdivision.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. when neighbors reported a man had climbed onto the roof next to a wading pool on Guaya and Chechén streets. At first neighbors thought the man to be a maintenance worker, but quickly realized he was intoxicated when he began telling passersby that he had “seven lives.”

Municipal Police arrived and requested the support of a Civil Protection ambulance and a fire truck. Firemen spent more than 40 minutes trying to talk the man down. They were eventually successful in getting him to climb down on an extendable ladder.

Waiting paramedics confirmed the man was very intoxicated. Since he was found without injuries, police arrested him from the scene for an administrative offence.
