Chetumal, Q.R. — Chetumal firemen were able to extinguish a truck fire before the load in the bed began to burn. On Monday, the driver of the truck hauling a load of tires stopped in the middle of the street when he noticed smoke coming from the engine.
Within minutes, the smoke turned to flames and required assistance from city firemen. The 71-year-old pickup driver, Jorge “M”, said he was driving on Insurgentes Avenue around 9:00 a.m. when his truck engine began to smoke.
The old red Dodge quickly began to burn which is when he called emergency services. It did not take long for the engine fire to spread to the cab of his truck. Chetumal firemen were efficient at extinguishing the fire before it spread to the back where a large load of tires were located.
The truck was destroyed by the fire.
