Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — Approximately two hectares of brush was consumed by flames outside Puerto Aventuras Saturday. Firefighters from Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras were involved in putting the fire out before it spread even more.
Firemen arrived in the Los Sauces irregular area outside Puerto Aventuras where they found the ground smoldering. Vegetation had already burned to the highway boundary where flames were located mere meters from CFE power poles.
Firemen were on scene for more than two hours in the nearly 40C heat soaking the ground to ensure the fire was completely out. The cause of the brush fire is not known.
