FGE reports 7 more complaints against Cancun taxi driver arrested for raping passengers

Cancun, Q.R. — Less than 24 hours after his arrest, the FGE says seven more people have come forward with charges against a Cancun taxi driver. Earlier this week, police arrested a Cancun taxi driver, Manuel V, on three counts of rape.

In their press release, the agency encouraged other victims to come forward. Since the announcement of his arrest, seven others have filed complaints against the driver for theft and rape.

The FGE says “less than 24 hours after the arrest of Manuel V was made known to the public for his probable participation in the crimes of rape and robbery to the detriment of at least three women (…) seven more people have contacted personnel of the Quintana Roo State Attorney General’s Office to identify the accused in crimes such as robbery and / or rape, for which other cases have been initiated against this subject.”

The agency added that “the subject, who worked as taxi driver, supplied substances in drinks that he offered to his passengers so that they would lose consciousness,” after which time, according to victims, he then raped and / or robbed them.

The FGE says that complaints against Manuel V can be made in person, through their website or by phone 998 302 2702.
