The incident occurred next to a small construction site off Cedro Street. According to initial reports, the couple entered the property after being drawn by a foul odor. While looking for the source of the smell, they saw a human hand protruding from rubble and weeds.

Municipal police officers arrived to confirm the finding and cordon off the area. The body was removed and has since been identified as a known homeless man. A cause of death is still under investigation pending an autopsy.

On Tuesday, the FGE reported briefly on the case. “The Quintana Roo Attorney General’s Office (FGE Quintana Roo) reports that the body found in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco belongs to a homeless person.

“According to initial investigations, the body shows no signs of violence. However, forensic examinations will determine the precise cause of death. Authorities will provide updates as the investigation progresses.”
