Chetumal, Q.R. — An early morning single vehicle accident has left one dead and another injured. Emergency services rushed to the scene of the rollover Saturday on a section of federal highway outside Chetumal.
The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. when the driver of the blue Chevrolet sedan was traveling toward Bacalar and rolled the car. The car rolled several times and came to a rest in the upright position.
Emergency responders found the car in the brush several meters from the highway.
One person from the inside the vehicle was found dead at the scene. Another person, a woman, was stabilized and transferred to a Chetumal hospital. It is not known who was driving the car at the time of the accident.
Elements of the State Rural Police and the National Guard Highways were on scene with medial personnel from a Chetumal ambulance.
The area was secured by National Guard while the coroner arrived to removed the body of the deceased. An official cause for the fatal crash is not known.
