Chetumal, Q.R. — An elderly Chetumal woman was arrested from a home Wednesday after being reported for child abuse. Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security made the arrest in response to an Emergency 9-1-1 report.
According to their police statement, they responded to the report of a case of child abuse on Raudales Street. When they arrived at the scene, they saw a 3-year-old minor coming out of a room of a house, who at first glance, could be seen with bruises on his face.
From inside the home, a woman, who claimed to be the boy’s aunt, “declared to the authorities that it was the 3-year-old’s grandmother who had committed the attack.”
Police informed Mrs. Leidi “N” that she was being arrested for Family Violence and Injuries.
