Drone locates body of Chetumal man heard the night before

Chetumal, Q.R. — A drone has located a drowned man in the Chetumal Savannah. An intense search for the man was launched Thursday evening after he was heard crying for help by nearby residents of Colibri Street.

His body was found floating in the water during a drone flyover Friday. The drone was used after an unsuccessful intense foot and water search Thursday night. A search and rescue team spent more than 12 hours scouring the Savannah in the dark in search of him.

His body was located floating in the water early Friday morning approximately 50 meters from the shore. A search and recovery team retrieved the deceased man from the water to a waiting Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) vehicle.

During their search, a wallet with identification was found. It is believed to belong to the now-deceased, however, authorities have not released the name.
