Driver transferred to hospital from single vehicle crash into city median

Chetumal, Q.R. — An injured man was stabilized at the scene and later transferred to Chetumal hospital from an accident Saturday. The 40 year old driver suffered a fracture in both legs after crashing into a median at a city intersection.

The single vehicle crash happened just before midnight at the intersection of Mariano Ángulo and Manuel Sevilla avenues in the Américas II neighborhood.

Witnesses who watched the accident unfold told police the driver was speeding when he slammed into the media.

Personnel from the fire department and paramedics from the Red Cross responded to the request for assistance. When the paramedics arrived, they found the male driver lying in the middle of the road and determined likely leg fractures.

He was stabilized at the scene and later transferred to the Chetumal General Hospital. Elements of the Traffic and Road Safety Directorate carried out the corresponding procedures to clear the scene of the single vehicle crash.
