Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — The driver of a Playa del Carmen taxi was taken to hospital after driving off an overpass. The accident happened Wednesday night when the male driver rolled off a low-section of the Puerto Aventuras bridge.
The vehicle ended up on its roof in weeds beside the overpass. Other drivers who saw what happened called for help.
National Guard were first on the scene, finding the rolled taxi laying off the side of the highway on its roof. The driver managed to get out on his own.
He was treated at the scene before being transferred to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic in the area was reduced while emergency vehicles arrived to deal with the overturned car.
National Guard did not speculate on how the taxi driver managed to roll is vehicle off the overpass.
