The sinking of the rear of the vehicle also caused a fuel leak.

Authorities were notified of the incident on Chapultepec Street and Reforma Avenue Monday by the truck’s crew after they found themselves unable to move.

According to initial reports, the driver was traveling along Chapultepec Street when a set of rear on the right side passed over a section of weak asphalt. The weight of the vehicle caused the truck to sink into the road.

Once the rear of the truck landed on the broken concrete, it caused a fuel leak. Chetumal firemen were called in to help with the control and spilled diesel clean up.

Authorities responding to the situation confirmed only material damage to the structure of the vehicle, particularly the fuel tank area.

An industrial crane arrived to pull the truck free from the sunken asphalt. There were no injuries reported. Authorities did not say what caused the street to weaken in that area.
