Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A Municipal Public Services worker was killed Thursday after being struck by a bus. The unnamed man was clearing a section of highway median of brush when he was hit by the vehicle.
Emergency responders were not able to save the young man. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities were called to the accident site along the federal highway at the Puerto Aventuras pedestrian bridge.
The city worker was killed while pushing a wheelbarrow in a coned-off work zone. The driver of the bus is reported to have fled the scene, leaving the worker under his bus.
Paramedics confirmed the death. National Guard and municipal police officers arrived to secure the area and direct traffic through while they waited for FGE personnel. Police are searching for the driver of the bus.
