Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A two vehicle crash in Puerto Aventuras left one dead Saturday night. Paramedics confirmed the death of a motorcycle driver after colliding with a car.
The fatal accident happened on the federal highway when witnesses said the driver of the car rear-ended the motorcycle. The red Suzuki hatchback alleged responsible was found with its front crushed inward in the shape of a V.
Reports say the driver of the private vehicle hit the back of the black and yellow motorcycle at highway speed, throwing the driver from his bike. Witnesses said when the motorcycle driver landed on the pavement, his helmet broke.
Paramedics from the Puerto Aventuras fire department arrived at the scene and confirmed a likely fatal head injury. The male motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Traffic was diverted around the accident site by National Guard Highways until the body was removed from the highway. The driver of the private vehicle was arrested. A cause as to how the two vehicles collided is under investigation.
