Chetumal, Q. R. — A vacationing Chetumal family started the New Year with a pickup crashing into their property. Municipal Police were at a home in the Jardines neighborhood early Sunday morning after a report of the accident.

Neighbors were jolted awake around 5:30 a.m. when the truck plowed through a concrete wall of the next door property.
Police found the truck had been abandoned at the scene of the crash at the intersection of Tréboles and Juan Ruiz Alarcón avenues.
According to witnesses, the driver was speeding through the neighborhood when he crashed into the house. Responding officers found the truck had been left behind by the responsible driver.

Neighbors next to the crash site confirmed that the family had left for vacation several days before and where not in the home at the time of the crash.
The vehicle was taken to the impound where authorities will work to track down the owner.
