Puerto Aventuras, Q.R. — A driver who flipped their car left it abandoned against a hotel wall. The accident was reported Monday when the abandoned vehicle was found on its roof against the concrete property wall of a Riviera Maya hotel.
According to preliminary reports, the driver of the car was leaving the hotel property, driving at a high rate of speed when they unexpectedly encountered another vehicle.
In trying to avoid the second vehicle, the female driver of the Volkswagen ended up side swiping a parked van before driving her car into the highway vegetation where it rolled down an embankment and onto its roof.
The woman escaped unharmed and was able to get out of the vehicle through the rear door, taking her personal belongings and then fleeing. According to witnesses, the woman said that her insurance had expired three months ago, so she preferred to leave the car abandoned.
Subsequently, hotel staff called the municipal police who had the car towed.
