Chetumal, Q.R. — A section of Maya Train overpass under construction outside Chetumal collapsed early Tuesday. An onsite worker videoed the two collapsed sections of rebar.
Both collapsed sections are reported to be around 15 meters in height. One section that fell landed on a nearby work truck leaving it partially crushed. The work truck was parked and not occupied at the time.
Personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) who are heading the project were on site to evaluate the situation Tuesday. The collapsed supports happened on a part of Tren Maya section 7.
There were no injured people reported in the incident. Authorities have begun an investigation to determine the cause.
