Mexico City, Mexico — The Mexican Ministry of Health has reported an increase of positive coronavirus cases to 405 and five deaths in the country.
Hugo López Gatell-Rámirez said the “Panorama in Mexico as of March 25 is 475 confirmed cases and six deaths,” adding that “only 10 percent have required hospitalization.”
He noted that 62 percent of the positive cases are men and 38 percent, women. Of the deaths, three occurred in Mexico City, one in Durango and another in Jalisco. The fifth person to die from coronavirus-related illness is a 61-year-old woman.
The woman, who suffered from diabetes, died Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in Hospital Ángeles Metropolitano in Mexico City after arriving home March 17 from a trip to Spain. A sixth person of reserved identity died Wednesday at 7:10 a.m. in San Luis Potosí.
The total number of positive cases for the state of Quintana Roo is part of these increased figures with state health authorities reporting a new figure of 27. According to Servicios Estatales de Salud (SESA), there is now a positive coronavirus case in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco, (Mahahual, Bacalar and Chetumal), 22 in Benito Juarez and 4 in the municipality of Solidaridad.
