Chetumal, Q.R. — A restaurant worker in Chetumal remains hospitalized with serious burns after an LP gas explosion. Emergency services were called to the El Barrilito eatery early Thursday afternoon in response to the kitchen blast.
Municipal police were at the Cedro Street scene around 1:00 p.m. with paramedics and city firemen in response to the emergency call. According to available information, the young male worker was in the vicinity of the tank when it suddenly exploded.
Witnesses reported flames and intense heat as a result of the sudden blast. The young worker suffered extensive burns to his arms and face. It was his first day on the job. He was reportedly transferred to hospital conscious.
Civil Protection are still investigating the reason for the sudden kitchen explosion. The eatery remains closed.
