Pilcaya, Guerrero — Two women from Chetumal were killed Saturday in head-on collision with a National Guard truck. The accident happened in the state of Guerrero on a section of the Mexico-Acapulco federal highway.
Emergency responders from the nearby town of Pilcaya were on scene where the National Guard patrol and old model van had collided. The two women, both from the city of Chetumal, were found dead in the front seats of the van.
One agent from inside the National Guard truck was injured.

According to police reports, the crash occurred on a curve just before the Grutas de Cacahuamilpa National Park. At that point, the driver of the National Guard truck allegedly invaded the opposite lane, crashing into the Volkswagen van.
The Chetumal women were tourists to the area, traveling through the municipality of Pilcaya in the northern region of Guerrero at the time of the accident. They were heading to the State of Mexico when they were hit by the National Guard truck.
They have been identified as 78 year old María de Jesús “N” and 70 year old Rosa María “N”. Three other women from inside the van were injured, all of whom, are from Chetumal.
