Chetumal traffic officers deal with car hung up on city infrastructure

Chetumal, Q.R. — Paramedics treated a young driver at the scene of an accident in Chetumal Saturday after slamming into city infrastructure. The male driver of a car required medical assistance after crashing into a tree and the city’s Mestizaje roundabout.

The accident happened early Saturday morning when the driver lost control of the vehicle and hit the central structure. The private car was found hung up on concrete with a completely destroyed front. Before slamming into the structure, the car downed a palm tree.

The driver was able to crawl out his door. He was treated by Red Cross paramedics who responded to reports of the early morning accident. The unnamed driver was treated at the scene for multiple injuries before being transferred to the General Hospital of Chetumal.

State Traffic officers were also part of the responding emergency team. Traffic was regulated in the area while a tow truck removed the vehicle from the city’s roundabout. Police have not reported on a damage cost to city property or possible charges.
