Chetumal, Q.R. — More than 45 million peso is being invested into Chetumal streets. State Governor Mara Lezama says 12 rehabilitation work projects are underway in several Chetumal neighborhoods.
The projects are being done by the Secretaría de Obras Públicas (SEOP). Irazú Sarabia, who heads Public Works, says the repairs and rehabilitations are being made in response to ongoing citizen requests.
Each of the projects, some of which are already underway, has a Social Comptrollership committee made up of eight people. The streets being repaired are used by around 165,000 Chetumal residents on a daily basis.
In some instances, the projects include the complete replacement of streets, while in others, the projects consist of repairs and the addition of drainage wells. Sarabia detailed that the 12 current projects include the rehabilitation of the streets in 26 neighborhoods, while the others require a complete resurfacing that will cover 18 residential neighborhoods.
