Chetumal, Q.R. — Police in Chetumal were able to arrest an alleged assailant after the man was chased down by a taxi driver. On Monday, the unidentified Chetumal taxi driver witnessed a man threatening a couple with a knife in a robbery attempt on Bahi Boulevard.
Upon realizing what was happening, the taxi driver drove toward the area, at which time the man fled on his motorcycle. The taxi driver then chased him until the man ditched his bike and began to run.
The driver, from the Sindicato Único de Choferes de Automóviles de Alquiler (Suchaa), continued on his mission, chasing the would be robber on foot until he found him inside a home on Avenida Othón P. Blanco, where he was allegedly attempting to rob others at knife point.
He then subdued the armed man and held him until police arrived after the homeowner called 911. The unnamed man was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police unit for transfer to jail.
