Chetumal suspect in Yucatan home robbery returned to face charges

Chetumal, Q.R. — A Chetumal native has been arrested by local authorities on an outstanding warrant in Yucatan. On Saturday, SSP Yucatan reported on the arrest of Jhon Smith D. V., 26, for the theft of 15,000 pesos from a private Yucatan home.

According to SSC Yucatan, “on August 22, a man stole 15,000 pesos in cash from a private home in the port of Las Coloradas in the municipality of Río Lagartos, after entering during the early morning without the consent of the owner.

“The fisherman Jhon Smith D. V., 26 years old, is probably responsible for these events, according to evidence collected by elements of the State Investigation Police (PEI) of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) and ministerial agents of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE).

This “individual is originally from Chetumal, Quintana Roo, the state in which he was arrested Saturday,” they reported.

“The theft was committed against citizen A. G. A., who filed the corresponding complaint, which led to an investigation to find the whereabouts of the person likely responsible,” they added.

Jhon Smith “D” has since been transferred from Quintana Roo back to the state of Yucatan where he will face charges.
