Chetumal, Q.R. — The Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) of Quintana Roo has reported the start of the installation of security cameras in the state’s capital city.
Fernando Viveros, Undersecretary of the SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana) says so far, 22 surveillance cameras have been installed and connected to the C5. Viveros said that the overall project includes the installation of 84 surveillance cameras at various points in the city.
Of these, 69 are new acquisitions that, together with a dozen existing cameras, will reinforce security through advanced technology in the state capital.
The installation of the cameras was delayed due to Hurricane Beryl. The cameras already installed were temporarily removed by the company in charge of their implementation to avoid damage and additional costs, since they had not yet been officially delivered.
Although there is no exact date for the completion of the installation of all 69 surveillance cameras, Viveros says they will likely be operational in the coming months.
The poles at the crossing points where they will be placed have already been installed, which facilitates the process of completing the project.
