Chetumal, Q.R. — Eye witnesses are accusing the driver of a dump truck of running a red light as the reason he hit a motorcycle. The bike, along with its driver, were found under the heavy industrial vehicle Friday.
Several motorists who saw the accident stopped to help the motorcycle driver. He was able to crawl out from under the truck and onto a construction site in wait for paramedics.
The accident happened at the intersection of Insurgentes Avenue and Aarón Merino Street of Chetumal Friday afternoon. Witnesses reported seeing the driver of the truck run through the red light at the same moment the motorcyle was passing through the intersection on a green light.
The unnamed motorcycle driver was treated by paramedics from the Medical Emergency Response Unit before being transferred to the General Hospital of Chetumal.
An industrial tow truck was request by city Transit for the removal of both the dump truck and the motorcycle.
