Chetumal mother apprehended for force prostituting daughter

Chetumal, Q.R. — A Chetumal mother has been arrested on charges of human trafficking. On March 8, the State Attorney General’s Office reported the arrest of Ana “G” “for her probable participation in the crime of trafficking persons in the form of prostitution and others through threat.”

Based on their investigation, in December 2022, the defendant forced her daughter to practice prostitution by threat. According to the FGE, Ana “G” threatened to kill her daughter’s family if she did not prostitute herself and hand over the profits.

The Prosecutor of the Public Ministry Specialized in Crimes of Trafficking in Persons, derived from the complaint, initiated an investigation which lead to an arrest warrant against Ana “G”.

She was taken into police custody from the streets of the Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood of Chetumal and transferred to the facilities of the Prosecutor’s Office where she will face charges.
