Chetumal, Q.R. — A Chetumal man charged with the attempted murder of a Chetumal woman in April will go to trial. On Wednesday, a judge found probable cause to move forward with charges of attempted femicide against Daniel “V”.
According to a statement from the State Attorney General’s Office, on April 28 of this year, the victim, a now-former girlfriend, was asleep in her home when she awoke to find Daniel “V” armed with a knife.
The unidentified woman sustained injuries to her head and arms. Her screams were heard by neighbors who helped her. They also helped identifiy Daniel “V” as her attacker.
During the hearing, the Chetumal judge ordered Daniel “V” to remain in custody. There was no word on when his case will go trial.
