Chetumal man kidnapped for 10 hours located

Chetumal, Q.R. — A man who was reported kidnapped Saturday night was found Sunday. Marco “R”, the brother of a local Quintana Roo deputy, was given an express missing persons alert after being kidnapped Saturday evening.

The 27-year-old was released by his captors early Sunday after being kidnapped in the community of Calderitas the evening before. He and a friend were reportedly intercepted up by a group of hooded men around 7:15 p.m. while on their way to a ranch party.

Details surrounding the kidnapping are unknown. His friend was released by kidnappers around 10:00 p.m. Saturday night.

Marco “R” was abandoned by his kidnappers around 4:00 a.m. Sunday and admitted to Chetumal hospital at 5:10 a.m., approximately 10 hours after he went missing. Normally police require an adult to be missing 24 hours before a public report is issued.

Marco “R” is being treated for physical injuries including head trauma. He remains under police guard during the ongoing investigation.
