Chetumal, Q.R. — A man driving on a motorcycle fell into a more than 3-meter deep excavation that was made by a company along Magisterial Avenue.
The excavation was made to add drainage to a Chetumal sports complex, however, the large hole was not marked, which lead to the driver of the motorcycle falling into the hole while traveling along the roadway.
The driver was taken to the General Hospital of Chetumal in serious condition, having received numerous injuries after hitting metal rods while falling to the bottom of the more than 3-meter-deep hole.
Reports say he has been placed in a medically-induced coma. There is no official word from authorities on who is responsible for the unsigned excavation.
