Chetumal installs new municipal council for animal welfare and care

Chetumal, Q. R. — A new municipal advisory council has been created to ensure domestic animals are protected and laws are enforced in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco.

On Thursday, Chetumal City Council, headed by Mayor Yensunni Martínez Hernández, created the Municipal Citizen Advisory Council for Animal Care and Welfare.

On behalf of the mayor, councilor president of the Public Health and Social Assistance Commission, Juan Ortiz Cardín, was sworn in as president of the animal council.

He highlighted the importance of the installation of this council since regulations, control and responsible possession of domestic animals must be established, which will help build a healthy and conscious community.

Council member Efrén Romero, who is also with the animal association Toda Vida es Importante, thanked Chetumal City Council, saying the creation of the new advisory council for animal welfare is a great step forward for generating plans and strategies for the benefit of those who do not have a voice.
