Chetumal, Q.R. — An inmate at the Social Reintegration Center (Ceresco) in Chetumal died after being stabbed to death. The stabbing was reported to guards around 2:00 p.m. Thursday.
According to reports, one inmate stabbed the other in the courtyard during family visitation hours. Guards found the inmate with three stab wounds to his neck. Although he was taken to the on site doctor, he died.
After the stabbing, family members at the prison were sent home early. At the time of the stabbing, another prisoner was being released. Reports say the offending inmate took advantage of that distraction to stab the other.
