Chetumal, Q.R. — At least 10 people were injured Friday afternoon in a rollover at the entrance to Chetumal. The pickup rolled around 5:00 p.m. as it traveled the highway near the Mestizaje roundabout.
Firemen, municipal police, National Guard and paramedics arrived shortly after the accident was reported. A majority of those injured were traveling in the back of the pickup bed when it rolled.
Several of the passengers in the back of the vehicle were taken to hospital in serious condition.
Traffic was backed up for kilometers at the city’s entrance due to the extent of emergency vehicles responding to the single vehicle crash. According to preliminary data, speed was the main factor in the truck rolling over.
