Chetumal firemen respond to request to remove boa constrictor from drawer

Chetumal, Q.R. — Chetumal firemen were called to a home Thursday night after a boa constrictor was found sleeping inside a drawer. The woman found the snake coiled inside the bottom drawer in a set of two in a nightstand in her bedroom Thursday evening. She had no idea how long the snake had been there.

However, the snake was noticed by her Thursday evening. It was around 8:00 p.m. when the local fire department was called for help. Two members of the Chetumal Fire Department arrived at an address on Luis Manuel Sevilla Street in the Las Américas I subdivision.

Inside the drawer, one of the firemen verified the sleeping reptile to be a boa. Once lifted, firemen said the snake was around 1.5 meters in length. It was removed from the drawer and handed over the municipal environmental authorities who relocated it outside the residential area.
