Chetumal firemen extinguish three parked dump trucks on Maya Train site

Chetumal, Q.R. — Three dump trucks were extinguished by Chetumal firemen Friday morning after they were found burning. The three heavy units were found on the city’s former Expofer site, a site that is currently under Maya Train construction.

City firemen were called to the site around 2:30 a.m. Friday after on site security guards noticed the three burning units. Firemen spent more than an hour trying to douse the stubborn flames that completely consumed all three trucks.

Since the vehicles were not in operation at the time of the fires, firemen turned the site over to the State Attorney General’s Office for a formal investigation.

Earlier this month, local union drivers reported discovering several ‘pirate’ dump trucks operating in the area. Authorities have not said if the two incidences could be related.
