Chetumal, Q.R. — One person died and two were left injured Wednesday in a single vehicle accident in Chetumal. The accident was reported on the Álvaro Obregón extension around 5:00 p.m. near the international airport where the driver slammed into a tree.
The impact left the car in a heap of metal after ripping away its engine. Passing motorists called for help. Emergency services personnel arrived to find the driver dead and two passengers injured.
The area was secured by police officers while personnel from the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO) proceeded to remove the body.
So far, authorities have not revealed the identity of the deceased. The injured were taken to a Chetumal hospital. Roads in the area were partially closed while emergency services dealt with the accident.
