Chetumal, Q.R. — A Chetumal taxi driver and his passenger were treated for injuries after their cab was run off the road. The accident happened Wednesday morning at the city’s exit. The driver was found at the scene still behind the wheel of his unit with an injured passenger in the back.
Elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security were part of the rescue team to remove both from the inside of the badly damaged car.
According to early informatin, the driver lost control of his cab after being hit from behind by a black truck. The hit caused him to veer off the highway and into the bush. His car rolled several times before finally coming to a complete stop.
The driver of the vehicle alleged responsible for the accident did stop at the scene.
Both the taxi driver and his passenger were injured in the accident and transferred to a Chetumal hospital by ambulance. Traffic was affected for more than an hour while ambulances transferred the injured and the involved vehicles towed.
The driver of the truck was arrested.
